iPad, have you seen it?

leave a comment »

iPad is what Apple is calling it, if you remember or if you missed it yesterday, I thought it would be a giant iPod, it turns out I was right.

Granted, I haven’t read up he whole thing on Engadget or any of the gadge blogs, I am writinbthis just base on what my friend told me through e-mail. But it is the most “unimpressive” piece of hardware from Apple to date.

Specs for those of you who have not seen it yet:

But come on, really? If you are out of time, here is one question I gob for you: why else do you need the iPad besides a much bigger screen than the iPhone?

For those of you that are still reading, I think the only advantage the iPad has over iPhone is only the screen size. You won be able to go online anywhere like you can with the iPhone, it can not make phone calls (meaning no microphone or speaker), no full blown OS .

If I remember correcly, there are 3 capacities: 16, 32 and 64? Well, what for? Does that mean If I want to put/download stuff to iPad, I need to hook it up to the computer just like I would with an iPod/iPhone, or only go online at wifi hotspot? Just like I would with an iTouch?

Why then why would you pay so much more for a bigger screen iPod? I know only time will tell how th
general public is going to make use of this device, but from what I could see, it’s probably not going to do too well…

Update: 01/31/2010

So apparently, I am not the only one that thinks the iPad “should” be able to use as a field monitor, could you just imagine having the ability to hook this up to any of the Hybrid HD camera and be able to run the video feed from it for about 7-10 hours?

As far as making the iPad as a field monitor, I don’t see what could be so hard about it, given the fact that onOne software already has DSLR Remote support for both Canon and Nikon camera to shoot tethered with LiveView support, it should be a piece of cake for making the program on iPad if the existing iPhone/iTouch program could work on it already….

Photographer for taking photos

leave a comment »

My friend is tired of not having the right person doing the right job, he believes that since this is America, everybody should have a job, the focus puller’s main concern should be pulling the focus, director should concentrate on, well, directing.

It is kind of interesting and scary time for us photographers, given thef act that Canon has put full 1080p HDshooting capabilities into their camera, a lot of photographers are testing the water with these new Hybrid videos.

I for one am such person, having upgraded to Canon 7D after shooting on Rebel XT for nearly a decade, I could say it was exhilarating to be able to focus much faster in lower light and do them at 8fps!

While I could see why this would be a concern for my friend, I think for those of is that work in the creative field, we are being asked to make better and better stuff with less and less people faster and faster, the sooner we embrace this, the better we will be…

Apple tablet

leave a comment »

So according to McGraw-Hill’s CEO, the Apple tablet will be out tomorrow.

From the early rumors pictures, it looks just like a giant iPhone, do we really need another one of those? I mean sure it’s nice to have a bigger display and I am sure fancier, slicker interface, what about letting users do more with them product Apple? For video/ still photographers, how about built in USB port that allows tethering or end users to attach card reader/ hard drive to read/ write to this gorgeous display?

Something exciting

So last night I went out with Lam and Eric to have a late dinner to talk about doing snapshot stories “3.0”. Had a great time talking about it.

To do list:
-scout location
-get in contact with the talent
-test out the equipment
-make story board of the ideas, or least jot them down.

Kids on average spent 8 hours a day in front of media, in front of tv, computer, iPod, iPhone etc. But those who are categorized as “obsessed” spent on average of 12 hours consuming some sort of media,

Had a little Pow wow with my friend tonight, who has directed several short webisodes, he was saying that for average folks, they aren’t going to know what you did, they wouldn’t appreciate or even know what you did. At least not until you showed them before and afters side by side…

Obviously when it comes to re-touching, you want to make it as subtle as possible, since I’ve shown you both the before and after images, can you spot the differences? Sound off in the comments

A little bit about Yiow!

For those of you that don’t know, or don’t really care, I thought I might start our “relationships” by telling you a little bit about myself, since it seems like “Hi! My name is… and I…” has always been the norm for introducing yourself to the crowd, so here we go.
